The Best Ever...

On July 22, 2011, Heaven called home my grandmother. It was a long process. She ended up staying about a week in the hospital before she was moved to hospice. By the time she passed, she had survived 15 days without food. She was one tough lady for sure. Granny's visitation and service was beautiful. All of the grandchildren wrote down different memories of her and they were read at the funeral. I will never forget helping her with laundry or in the garden, tying strings to the legs of june bugs and watching them fly around, and how she would always play kickball or baseball in the yard. She would always keep us an endless supply of chilly willies. I have a ton of great memories, not only of my childhood, but also as I got older. I really got close to her after my grandpa passed and she would stay at the campground with my mom on the weekends. We shared a room and would always end up staying up late and talking and mom would yell at us to go to bed. LOL. We also took her to her first Wake Forest basketball game in November of 2008. My brother took her for her first paddle boat ride at age 90. Every weekend my mom would take her different places and include her in on everything. Mom even got her sucked in to playing BINGO every weekend at the campground. I also remember taking her to Logan's Roadhouse the first time and laughed so hard because she could not believe that you could throw peanut shells on the floor. From then on, Logan's became the peanut place. I think have handled everything well so far. I feel like I will really break down when I know mom is fine. That is the same thing that happened with my grandpa. I seem to be the type of person that grieves later than most. It was hard seeing my granny so sick for those 20 days but I know that she is in a better place. She is finally home and is smiling down at us from Heaven. I just hope that someday I will be able to be as great a woman, mother, and grandmother as she was.

July 4th weekend

Friday was a girls day with my mom. We had lunch and Cherries and did some shopping at the mall. It was the first time in a long time that we have been able to do something like that together. Mom was a little disappointed about not having her surgery. She had worked herself up and prepared herself for it. Everyone had planned for it. I had taken off work the day she was to have surgery and dad had take off the next week so he could help her recover. I told mom that maybe God had another plan. Maybe there was a reason why she wasn't going to have her surgery.

I love little day trips and road trips with Jonathan. It is good to spend time together and talk. We always end up singing out of tune to songs on the radio and always end up laughing at each other about something.

Saturday, Jonathan and I took a little day trip to Boone. It was so nice to get away for a couple of hours. We left about 3:30 pm and arrived at Dan'l Boone Inn for dinner. We arrived just in time too. We got in line and it was only a 30 minute wait before we sat down. We had been by there before and seen the line wrapped around the building. Needless to say, the food was awesome! If you have never been, you definitely need to go. After eating WAY too much, we ended up at the Tanger outlets in Blowing Rock. Normally, Jonathan HATES shopping...especially if you are just walking around and not going for anything in particular. He is one of those get in and get out shoppers. We did go in almost every store that was there and he was a real trooper. I was disappointed in the Gap outlet. Normally, I can rack up...not this time. We did, however, rack up at the IZOD store. We ended up with some really good deals on the cool fit shorts and shirts. They normally don't have that good of a sale but the whole store was at least 80% off. It was just a nice day overall. The weather was awesome. The temperature in Boone was 80 degrees compared to the 95 degrees we had at home. It wasn't busy either, a plus. After our little day trip, we were already planning the next trip on the way home for next summer. We just might stay somewhere and take in a few more of the sights in the area.

On the way home from the trip, my mom called and told me that my grandma was admitted into the hospital again. Granny has been in the hospital every holiday, except Easter, since Thanksgiving. The other times were due to a urinary tract infection and it made her crazy. This time, my aunt said that when granny got up, she went to put on her shoes and was putting them on the wrong feet, lifted one up and was trying to drink from it, and licked her sock. She was really out of it. With her previous infections, she would become very confused and aggressive. She would fight my mom, aunts, and uncles, cuss and argue. Now let me just tell you now. My grandma is 91, doesn't cuss, and hasn't weighed over 110 lbs. all her life. Today, both doctors agreed that she had a stroke and another urinary tract infection. She only weighs about 70 lbs now and won't eat. They are giving her IV fluids and have had to put a catheter in her. They have given the family some options for her care. One of them being surgery, which she may or may not come out of. They also talked about just keeping her comfortable and let what happens, happen. There was also mention of a nursing home. I am a little confused really about the options. My mom stayed with her last night and was a little tired and confusing when she was telling me all of this information on about 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I really don't know what the best option would be. I just know that granny is tired and is ready to go. Last weekend she told my mom that it would be her last weekend staying at the campground with her. Mom didn't think too much about it at first because it was going to be here last weekened for a while if mom had her surgery. NO ONE told granny that she wouldn't be able to stay with mom on the weekends or her surgery. Maybe she was trying to tell mom something. In the ER last night, granny told my aunt that she was dying. When she asked granny who told her that, granny just said that it wasn't the doctors and wouldn't say who. After talking to mom, she seems to think that granny and I were both right.

I am leaving it in God's hands. He has a plan for all of us.

Postponed...

Well, mom's surgery was postponed. Found out about 16 hours before she was supposed to have surgery. Tuesday when she went to the hospital for pre-op, they discovered a rash on her feet and ankles. They wrote her out of work, gave her a prescription, and told her to rest and stay off her feet. They checked her again today and decided to wait. They don't want to take the chance of infection or mrsa. Well, I was a little relieved. I was so stressed and worried last night, I just about made myself sick.

Not long after mom's call, I received a call from Orthopedic Specialists to schedule my MRI. Yes, MRI. My second opinion on my knee, not only thinks I have the chondromalacia, but also a problem with the meniscus. Possible treatment options: cortisone shots (by now, you know that I think that is a total waste of time) and physical therapy (didn't work the first time). Since he thinks there is a problem with the meniscus, he also suggested the MRI, just to make sure that there is nothing floating around or a tear. All for the MRI but.....after insurance, I still have to pay $679.51, or $250 the first visit and payments of $85 a month. I was just floored...what the heck. It seems like things are just getting more and more expensive....you have to be rich to do anything now a days. That will just take me off on some tangent, so I guess I will stop there.

I guess out of everything that happened, I still get a long holiday weekend with both Friday and Monday off, only mom is not having to recooperate. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend!!!

Random...

Random thoughts...

True Blood is back!!! Super excited!!!

Really tired of my knee pain. Chondromalacia patella...at least that is what the first doctor diagnosed me with. Hopefully, Wednesday I will find out more. Now instead of my knee just popping back into place, it feels and sounds like tearing when it moves and the pain is not only just on the inner side of my right knee cap but on the top. I hope that whatever is wrong with, it can be fixed. If he wants to give me a shot, I think it is just a temporary fix and just might refuse.

I wish it would rain...a good, soaking rain. Everything is just too dry.

Really feeling "If I die young" by The Band Perry and it's currently ring tone.

I really need to do some housework but this spot on the couch is really comfy...

Every morning when my alarm is extremely annoying, I am sleeping the best and I have to get up. Why is it that when you have to get up, your bed is the most comfortable? Why can't it be that comfortable when you first lay down? Why can't it be that comfortable when you are lying in bed for 2 hours and are still wide awake?

Oh yeah, Friday I ended up scoring FREE Showtime and TMC for a year! All thanks to a problem on TWC's end. Anytime we tried to watch anything On Demand it would say it wasn't available, try again later. That sucked...especially when there is NOTHING interesting to watch on tv. During my call, I did find out that the biggest market in the US for True Blood is the Greensboro area. Funny.

Enough random for now, True Blood season premiere starts now and will have my undivided attention for the next hour. ;)

This dork is out...

Slack #2

Yep, a year later and I am finally blogging again. SLACKER!

I am still working for the same local bank, however, I moved to a different branch. I am currently the teller supervisor and being trained as a back up CSR. Pretty exciting...I have had one of the busiest months ever involving my job. Week 1: CSR training in Lexington, Week 2: training summer teller and Notary Public class Tuesday and Thursday, Week 3: CSR coaching in Wallburg. I was finally back in my branch playing catch-up on Friday.

In the past year, my best friend, Meredith, had her baby boy, Gabriel. He is the cutest little boy ever. This is a picture of me and Gabriel a few weeks after he was born. Jonathan and I went to Hampton, VA for a visit. He was so tiny then and has grown like a weed since the last time that I saw him back in March. Meredith says that he is now sitting up and loves to squeel!

Jonathan has been going racing this year. They won the first Big Dog of the Season and the first EOPM of the season. However, they can't seem to get another win this year. They have been running well but haven't been able to qualify as well as they want. Hopefully, things will turn around for them.

In the past year, we have also started finishing the basement. Well, Jonathan has done most of the work. Sheet rock dust really messes with my allergies. the walls are finished and painted. One room and the closet is has ceiling. In all rooms, we still have to have the electrician come out and finish and the flooring put down. We still need to finish the ceiling in the main room. Hopefully, we will have time to work down there and finish it soon.

Anyway, enough about the past year. My mom is having surgery on her neck Friday, July 1st. She has nerve damage so they are going to replace one of her bones with a cadaver bone. I think we are all kind of nervous, especially with this being her first major surgery. After her surgery, she will not be able to keep my grandmother for a while. We aren't really sure how this will affect her. Granny is 91 and has to have a lot of help. Granny's memory isn't what it used to be so they thought it might be best to not tell her so she doesn't worry. I know that she will still realize that she is supposed to go to mom's but won't understand why she can't go.

Well, I guess that is enough for now. Joanthan has me watching Halloween II and I am completely lost now that I have been blogging. He is getting a little irritated with me asking questions. LOL

Until next time....C
